Got some heavier gauge solid bus wire from Amplified Parts and felt the urge to try my hand building one of those again. This time I went with Philips BC109c for the transistors. It’s a great sounding fuzz for such a low parts count pedal!
I’ve recently made my own Zo clone, and I’m gathering the parts to do a P2P version too, it’s a great pedal, and I have no other fuzz that does what it does.
Marcus commented on the video that he uses 500k for the Drift pot, if you look at any of the wonderful build shots you can see he now uses a A100k, he also tweaks some of the resistor values, so I think he is continually tweaking this circuit to extract every last bit of fuzzy goodness out of it. I found I preferred using B taper pots for the Drift and Texture, I just felt the change was more evenly spread over travel of the pot, but I feel this is counterintuitive on the drift pot as it’s acting in a similar way to the guitar volume pot, which is a log pot!
I’m using 2N3904 transistors with an hFE of 183, but they are socketed so I’ll try something with more gain like you have.
