Pedal for the tones in Big Wreck's All Is Fair ...?

“When the folks at Suhr released the Rufus and the Rufus Reloaded pedals, those pretty much replaced the other fuzzes in my live rig because of their great sound and reliability.”

I suspect the Thornicus is based on the Rufus Reloaded. The Rufus Reloaded added an octave section somewhat like a Green Ringer in front of the fuzz.

The Cujo is the closest thing at the moment, maybe with a Tentacle in front for the octave.

So would the War Scythe which has the Tentacle integrated with a fuzz be worthwhile/a consideration or build a dual pedal with a Tentacle running into a Cujo?

Someone else would probably be a better judge of that...

I don't remember the War Scythe very well and I don't think I've ever actually listened to Albatross. I bought their first album when it came out (with my first paycheck from working at Sonic) but haven't listened to anything after that.

It looks like the Rufus Reloaded came out in 2015 so we could be barking up the wrong tree.

Your guess is better than mine, but both approaches could be fun and would definitely yield something in the ballpark, I'd wager, and certainly usable.

The intro is a green ringer.
But the solo sounds to me like a pitchshift (micropog). Cant hear if it is oct up or down or both.
I like the green ringer as a seperate pedal before my drives. Like it with both lowgain as midgain (nein, cast iron, Chopshop).Stays always on my board.

Edit: apparently that Sure pedal is capable of both sounds.

Well then, I guess @Robert needs to stop literally everything he’s doing and trace that Thornicus for me, er, us right away!

Yes, the Rufus Reloaded had an octave function that could be switched on and off by holding down the footswitch.

My guess is that the Thornicus is some sort of dual modified Rufus with the octave engaged on one side.

"Originally conceived as a single fuzz circuit with a shared octave switch, the design evolved at lan Thornley’s request into a dual-channel fuzz pedal with independent Fuzz and Octave sides, each with its own dedicated tone-shaping controls. "
