A business in Austin called Rock and Roll rentals allows customers to rent band, lighting, dj equipment, instruments and PEDALS. You can sign up for a monthly subscription. Pretty cool idea for trying out pedals or if you need a sound for a track. Or, ya know. If you need to trace a circuit.

I rented a few hard to find pedals from Pedal Genie when they were still doing that.

It's one of those things that works out great when it does. If it's something you just absolutely can't find elsewhere, or you're fairly confident you can get it traced and get a layout verified within a month, then it works out great.

If you have to hang on to the pedal more than a month or two then the fees start to add up and it makes more sense to just buy / resell one.

A friend of my rents pedals from them with a monthly subscription. Easier since he is in Austin and saves on shipping but he loves it!
