Pedal Order Tips and Suggestions

I thing it this might be fun. Share some pedal placements that may not be “typical” and what you like about it. Mention specific pedals and effects.

I’ll go first. I watched a Pedal Zone video (Stefan is great) about tremolo pre and post reverb and I put my quaverato after my slo and by god he was right. I love the way it continues to modulate the reverb trails.

I love how the Flint allows you to change the Trem/Verb order.

I love goosing my El-Cap with my Aion Ares.

Another favorite combos is Boss CS-2 into Ram’s Head Big Muff into Light Boost from Vick Audio Overdriver.
Very cool! I looked at the Flint for a hot second on my hunt to burn some spare cash. Ended up with the Specular Tempus as my quaverato meets my trem needs with the only issue being it’s size…

I’m a big fan of something similar to this. Flanger after delay. We’re all pretty familiar with classic delays that have modulation. The memory man, the carbon copy, the mag echo, etc… all great sounding delays. But using flanger to modulate your delay repeats… glorious. I used a boss bf-2 after a dd-3 for many years. Now, I’m using my freshly built Byzantium after my Magnetron delay. I love this combination.

That’s awesome you have to post a video so we can hear!

I realize it’s pretty vanilla but I like a compressor before an OD, and running a stereo modulation then delay after any sort of speaker/cab emulator or sim.
@blackhatboojum but now I have to experiment with swapping the modulation and delay, never really thought about that before.

I haven’t messed with those two yet I always run mod into delay. Except I did have the tremolo after my space spiral so I guess that’s not true but that’s a mod delay anyways.

Specular Tempus is the next addition to my board and I’m going to put the unicab right before it and then run stereo out of the ST

Running a compressor before any dirt is generally recommended. Otherwise, you run the risk of adding even more noise. Why compress both the dirt and the added noise? 🤪

"Texture"

That said, I run an optical compressor at the end of my board, right before one of a selection of JFET amp emulators. I like the sound of a compressor release on delay & reverb tails, it brings them to the front in a sort of "wash" and allows for more gentle playing dynamics.

That’s interesting I’ll have to try that

Just to echo ADAOCE I’ve not thought of trying this either sounds interesting. You think cause it’s an optical comp would be different than another type? Gonna try either way though I don’t have an optical type one I do have a few others
I always dig hearing what others are using for pedals and in their pedal chains.
Lately I been playing with my Doppelgänger and my meatball So thick and juicy tones drip from my amp it takes a minute to dial it in but so worth it.

Vibe before dirt anybody? I also have a compressor after my envelope filter to smooth out the peaks but that’s probably not unusual.
