Hey all - if anyone knows of a reliable supplier for the out-of-production HT8950 18-pin voice chip, I'd love to hear about it. Ebay is sketchy for this type of stuff. I found a supplier in Montreal that has them listed on their website - but all they actually have is HT8950A 16 pin chips -...

It does now. I suspect I had a stray wire causing problems, as I took it out of the housing to check for obvious solder bridges etc.. and didnt see anything. Put it back and now its "better". Still weird as hell, but better

Thanks for sharing this. I like build reports like this one so I don't waste time and money chasing an obscure, out-of-production chip to end up with a pedal that just makes weird noises.
