I love this circuit. A glorious overdrive circuit that can dial up crunchy and transparent overdrive or it can get you to Plexi-territory. I never touched the three trimmers because it sounds great with lots of tones and plenty of headroom. I can roll off the gain and make this thing into a clean boost or a transparent overdrive. The tone knob can add some sparkle. The bass switch works as designed.

For this build I used a powder coated 1590b and added a film-free decal. I also used Spraymax 2k clear. I used a 3mm red diffused freznel and 20mm blue Davies 1510 knobs...enclosed jacks, a soft-click footswitch and a taiway toggle switch with a dress nut from Amplfied Parts. This circuit fits easily in the 1590b enclosure. PPCB does not sell short 470u ECs so I tucked the full sized 470u and 47u electrolytic capacitors under the pcb board. On top of the board I bent the legs on the 1u film capacitor and I did not need to bend the legs of the transistors but I did.

Have you ever not given an OD ⭐⭐⭐⭐+? 🤣
I think we need to here about the one OD you despise. The one that sounds like wet farts and cats in heat. I'm mostly clowning. Great looking build. It's been cool watching your progress of the process.

Thanks much. Yes, my build reports have a few thumbs down. But this one is a top tier circuit.
 
It would be worth mesuring the 3 - J201's to see where there at., 4.5v is the recommended voltage.
Write down your measurements as they are now & if it does not improve at the 4,5v setting, you can put it back.
J201's are very fussy than any other jfet available!,
That's why Trimmers are nearly always present.

I find that the trimmers require attention in octave-circuits.
 
I build serveral pedals with jfets and with some I was lucky. But some not. As Chuck says: Jfets are not plug and play: And not just the bias:

Thanks for the message. I will have to do some reading - I m sure my luck will eventually run out with the JFETs since I am using them right out of the bin.
