I am a sucker for switches and overdrive. In my opinion the boost on this pedal is somewhat underwhelming. With that said there are a few things I will test tomorrow. I did not have the LM833 op amp (it will be here tomorrow), so I used an NE5532. Also the build docs call for a BC549C transistor but I used a BC549b (C will arrive tomorrow). I imagine that transistor is in the boost circuit and it may be why that boost in underwhelming. The boost also adds a slight tone change which I am not a fan of. The drive is just like many other pedals... fuzz, overdrive and sustained full on distortion - and other pedals do each better. I went with a tango green enclosure from Stompbox and green tall thin anodized knobs. The switch is a short bat Taiway and the LED bezels are sleek 5mm from Tayda.
It was a challenge trying to make this with one thumb, and I did have two unforced errors - brain related. First time on the PedalPCB platform I had no boost so I checked the resistors in the boost circuit and found I had a 510r where I should have had a 510k, After I replaced that resistor the circuit worked straight away on the PedalPCB platform. But the boost was just above unity and with a tone coloring. The next error was on my decal label... so I already fixed that but it will need to dry a day before a reboxing. Probably also an error ro use such long wires but oddly enough, soldering is the hardest part of assembly with one thumb. The two footswitches were a challenge to solder.
IMO the pedal would not end up on my board. Not my style, It is aggressive and it does not produce exactly wbat I enjoy. Again. maybe tomorrow with the correct Op amp and transistor it may surprise me and I will update this. Anyone here a fan of this circuit?
