I think it is a great OD pedal as a standalone or to tone stack. It is an easy build that only takes a few hours. After waterslide I used SprayMax 2k matte clear. It is a waterslide decal and in person it appears a bit blotchy in spots. Sadly the film-free does not lay down as well with these rougher texture enclosures so I used a traditional waterslide.

It is not overpowered. The circuit is great and the od is pleasing, can get very creamy. It is responsive and I can get it to bark and crunch... and cranking the drive gives sustained distortion. I can also get clean boost: I rolled back the drive to zero and cranked the level to get some transparent od. Getting that transparent od in that way creates a situation where I could use a touch more headroom. The presence knob is similar to a tone knob but it seems to control the mids. I cannot say it is a tone knob since I cannot really dial in bass or treble like a tone knob. Presence turned to the left is flat mids and turning right gives me some shimmery-punch.

I used some short caps from PPCB but this project fits easily in a 1590b and maybe I would not need them. It has Lumberg side jacks, a Lumberg D.C. jack, a low profile footswitch with PPCB breakout board. with LED My op-amp looked suspect, but it worked great. I added orange knobs that look like a creamsicle to me.

if you want to get started putting ppcb boards in 1590b enclosures the Awful Waffle is a good candidate. There is so much room for this circuit in a 1590b enclosure that I could put the footswitch higher on the enclosure - to mimic the original.
