I am on a bit of boost building run: the Enchanted Boost, Fumble Boost and Cracklejack boost helped me get started. I am still smitten with the Crackle! I must be over confident because I boxed this without testing first. This boost was one I saw on many boards in Nashville. This one has quite a few functions that make it better than that mini-Xotic EP Booster. First is that you have a charge pump which allows the circuit to go from 9v to18v (more headroom). There is a volume gain at 18v, Then there are the 4 switches - I do love switches. The boost is great and would be a welcome addition to my board if I was gigging. You can make it sound like your amp is getting taxed!
The enclosure is a 125b in matte blue and the decal is a film free. The enclosure was then sprayed with Spraymax 2k matte clear. I also used a PPCB top jack plate and switchcraft jacks. I used a white knob and a blue LED. The switches are all Taiway short bat and the footswitch is a 1k soft click. I used the PPCB breakout board with an LED and I jumped the LED spot on the board. I used naked 22 pre bond wire to connect the boards because it looks cooler than floppy wires. I did not mess with the internal 50k trimmer.
If you click the 9v/18v switch while the pedal is engaged there is a loud pop. Seems you need to first engage the bypass before toggling that option. FYI: after playing it for a bit I hooked it up to 18v and it also functioned fine (do n.ot try this at home kids - I could have fried my charge pump because it is only rated for 12v) I saw on here where some members said it would fry the charge pump, but lucky for me I had 18v plugged in for a short time so it did not.
