No mods. It is a dirt pedal, and it can get filthy. The cut is interesting; I like it near 9 o'clock... if you turn it towards 3 o'clock it muffles and cuts highs. This circuit in not overpowered like others I have built but it has some headroom. The build gets rave reviews on the PPCB site. I would say it is decent, not a difficult build and and it has useable sounds and an interesting cut feature.
For this build I have a traditional waterslide with clear... in a matte white enclosure. I would compare this pedal to the Greer Black Mountain Crunch/PPCB Precipice in tone. The 1981 has two 1N914s which make it tight. The Greer has a BAT41 and a 1N914. I tired to color match the design and the knobs. Switchcraft jacks and a soft click footswitch... also a PPCB top jack faceplate
It is build #90 for me.
