Thanks to @Feral Feline for the advice and direction for making use of the Muffin crumb amplifier stage (MCAS). I messaged them after seeing this thread about Muffin Crumbs. The Mini Muffin Fuzz is notoriously underpowered with unity at fully cranked. I previously built one and it was weak. I wanted to add power to this 1n34a Ge based fuzz and the MCAS worked perfect. I also have to also thank @Harry Klippton for directing me to his thread about how to better put these circuits in 1590a enclosures. I was putting jacks above the boards and using side D.C. jack before seeing HK's thread.
I am including the values I chose for the MCAS. It do not see that anyone ever listed values anywhere so I copied the tone recovery stage values from here. I successfully breadboarded this circuit to create a tone recovery stage. You can see in the image that I put the whole Mini Muff board right on the breadboard so I did not have to breadboard that circuit. (not sure how to breadboard the IC - 4558 ...yet). Also take note that I did not have a BC239 so I used a BC549c.Also I started with a ten k at R1 and then I changed it until I found the sound I wanted. I settled on 8k2 because it sounded a bit more punchy. With the amp stage installed unity is now at 3pm so it is not overpowered, but I am satisfied that I have somewhere above unity to go!.
It had great results. I insulated the low profile footswitch's breakoiut board and the solder side of the MCAS. I also mounted the caps on the MCAS very close to the board. I also used Lumberg jacks and I made use of the PPCB D.C. breakout board so I could add power to the MCAS.
I am very happy with the result.
