If you were thinking of building one of these just don’t. After building a couple of these, I can tell you they’re just not great. My only snafu in this build was using a 2N5485 that was no good. Grr. Picture below for posterity.

Because I built one of these already I know that the build docs call for the knob to turn counterclockwise for sensitivity. I don’t like that at all so I’ve reversed my potentiometer and it works the way all other noise gates work, clockwise.

I’ve started to spend a lot more time on labeling. I learned that the QL1110NWB that I’ve been printing labels on was not the best choice. It doesn’t have a ribbon it prints with heat. Therefore, if the pedal gets up to 150° with the label from the thermal printer, it will turn black. So I started doing water, slides and vinyl labels, but it adds steps because I have to then clear coat it, sand it and buff it.

Anyway, I love pedal PCB and it’s not their fault but this pedal is not anything you should build.
