This is only the second of several of Bjorns circuits I intend to build. The first being the Fuscia Fuzz which is absolutely killer. This one also does not disappoint. It doesn’t sound like a tubescreamer or Timmy thankfully it has its own sound. It can do light Od to almost distortion. However it does use LEDs as clippers which I’m usually not too fond of unless it’s a distortion but this pedal pulls it off well. I do wonder what a set of Bat41s would sound like though! Easy build and recommended. Thinking about trying the Symbolic drive next.

The Bee Sting is more transparent while the Royal Blue is more “rough around the edges” so to speak. To me the LEDs can get harsh if the eq isn’t tuned it properly. The Silver Bee can be useful set almost anywhere. I believe the Royal Blue has more gain on tap though. Hope that helps. I’d give it a go. It’s doesn’t sound anything like a tubescreamer or Timmy. I should probably put them both aside and a/b them but that’s what immediately came to mind.

@MattG was it you that told me you used magnifying glass some during your builds? That’s how I figured out my eyesight was getting bad because I tried some of those Dan Erlwaine type magnifying glasses. 😂

I’m gonna do the symbolic and skylight very soon so I’ll post my thoughts on those as well. Have to finish the Mojito Deluxe first.

Not for through-hole builds. I have a lighted, magnifying headset that I sometimes used when hand-soldering SMD parts. I've also used it for debugging a few times. Although, for debugging, I've found that my phone's camera zoom is actually the best "magnifying glass" I have.

@MattG I went back and a/b the two pedal and they’re both very close in sound. The obvious sound differences is in the clipping diodes. If you put Bat41s, which is what I think the Bee Sting uses, in the the Royal Bkue they may be indistinguishable.

I recommend trying it but socketing the diodes. That sounds like a nice experiment
