PedalPCB VIP event at Barrington Porchfest July 22nd.

Got to hang with James and hear a great Dead cover band this afternoon. On his porch. Tossed down a couple of nice brews, chatted up some locals. Really nice afternoon.
I wanted to come, but I ended up taking the family to Crystal Lake to get rained on  we'll have to hang out sometime soon though.

I said catheter, not caterer
About a zillion years ago, at the Renaissance Faire 1982-ish my sister the nurse gave me 3 new sterile catheter bags. My cohorts and I, including my soon to be wife, filled those bags with wine because glass bottles were not allowed. Those things hold a LOT of wine.

So as we made our way through the Faire one of us would hold the bag up high while the others drank out of the tube, so gravity would do it's thing. Anytime we encountered a medical professional you would always hear a screech, to see us drinking chardonnay, which is fairly yellow, out of a piss bag.

We all got toasted that day, most of us made it home. A few got lost and made it home, eventually....

Honestly, I really should have taken some pictures but I just had too much fun. My lovely wife brought the dog over to meet James' lovely wife and kids and we realized that we're about 6 degrees of separation from a few folks. Was totally cool up until it rained and even then we need it, so hard to complain. The band at James' place (Rolling Blackout) was REALLY good (and this coming from a non Dead head).

Always fun to see the locals have a good time and this was no exception. I did see a Bubbles and Brew truck at someone's house but so far no real commercial expectations. I mooched a couple of very nice brews from James so I was a very happy camper.

Barrington Porchfest event report:

Last year Mark Himes mostly played solo and his son Ray (playing the acoustic) and daughter Kate joined for a few.

This year Ray and Kate brought the other 2 members of their band (Tommy, on the tele) and Henry (on bass) and killed it.

Turns out Tommy is a bartender at the Yankee Doodle and the Roling Blackouts are the house band.

The good news is we now have a place for the Greater Barrington Pedal Society to meet that has good live music. And... it's STILL within easy walking distance for Me and Gordo.

The bad news it... it's at the Doodle...

I'll reserve final judgement until we have a visit, but last time I was there (at leas 10 years ago) it was a bit grimy...

Really, does anything say good music as much as maroon pants???

No I say!!!

:sneaky:

Dude, I'll kill for those pants. As it turns out I casually mention that the dude that truly sounds like a Dead guy is the bass player and from them on everyone that steps up to the mike just gets incrementally better. Acoustic player...slays. Electric...drenched in reverb slays. Silly good time.
