Pendulum tremolo possible mods?

Hi. I recently built a pendulum tremolo and am fairly happy with it. I plan on building another one and I would like tweak two things with it:

1) Can the rate indicator led be made to shut off when the 3pdt switch is off - ie the pedal is off?

2) Can the depth be deeper? Is there anyway I can make the depth of the effect deeper than it is? When the depth knob is at maximum I still desire for it to turn more.

Thanks!

1) D3 can be re-routed to the stomp - but the stomp will need to be a 4PDT to accommodate the Rate LED (D3) switching on and off.

2) I'd try different LDRs with higher dark resistances. Perhaps an NSL-5152 or NSL-5532. (Mind you, when the dark resistances are higher, often so are the light resistance. See the attached Silonex LDR chart.)

Hi, thanks for responding!

I hadn't thought about using a 4pdt. What would the wiring for that be exactly?

For the LDR I used a KE 10720. I should also mention that I decided to use 5mm red diffused LED's instead of the 3mm LED's called for in the parts list. Not sure how big of a difference that makes. Next time I order parts I'll try and get some of the ones you mentioned: NSL 5512 or 5532. You said 5152 but based on the chart, Im assuming you meant 5512.

Just use the extra set of lugs on a 4PDT for the Rate LED like is done for the bypass LED.

The KE 10720 is (IMO) a bit low resistance for the dark. You may want to try the photocells I mentioned above. They have a much higher dark resistance than the KE 10720.

Thanks for the advice!

Im having a hard time locating these online. I tried Tayda, Mouser, Amazon. Where do you find them?

You want the bypass led and rate led to go off when in bypass, or you would like to use only the rate led to indicate that the effect is active?

Hi, thanks for responding. I would like both LED’s to be off in bypass and on when engaged.
