I’ve heard lots of good things about this and the circuit seemed different from everything else I’ve built which piqued my curiosity and bumped this one up the build queue.

Build:

Overall, a fun build. The layout is nice and I had a bunch of JFETs for scavenging in a build I could never get working right that were already on smd boards. For the 201s i used:

Q1:
idss=0.84m
ID=0.34mA
@Vg=232mV
Id=0.00mA
@vg=788mV

Q2:
Idss=0.66m
ID=0.25mA
@vg=169mV
ID=0.00mA
@vg=649mV

and biased both to just under 6.0V. I wish the build docs had official instructions for transistor biasing instead of having to search the forums so I am going to give the build 4.75 stars.

Sound:

A very nice overdive. One of the first I’ve built that I like as much as the green side of the protein. After playing with it for a week or so, I prefer the tone switch at the stock, middle position. The other positions are darker but still useable for me. The Sag nob is pretty subtle for me when using a bridge pickup, but I can really change the feel when using a neck pickup or with the tone knob rolled down. It sounds great with all the knobs at 1 o’clock.

Design:

I wanted something evocative of the original without being a direct copy of the style. I found a cool worn letterpress font and used a clear metallic case instead of raw metal. I think it came out nice and I’m a big fan of the clear metallic.
