Preamp Ideas for a 1w amp

I have a Lafayette 99-9038 1W germanium power amp that I picked up as part of a surplus lot and I thought it would be neato burrito to add a little pre and turn it into a guitar amp.

Any thoughts on a preamp that would pair well with it? I’d like to keep it simple, with three knobs: gain, tone and master volume.

I’m probably going to build a small cab for it as well, maybe with a Jensen Mod 5. I also have some really cool grill covers from a 1950s bus that I’d love to use.

Thanks!

the only reasonable choice is an MT-2

Well guess I should buy a second to run stereo…

get a mk4.23 (transcendence boost) for cleans and a mi audio super crunch (i thinkit's called crunch captain deluxe) for dirt. throw a 'blend and buffer' pedal between the last pedal and the amp for your fx loop. I don't have any recommendations for that though.., there's a couple of boards out there that do that.
I'm trying a stumble for the fx loop piece for my own thing but i can't rec it as 'the thing that does the thing' without modifying it to be a little less warm and than it is by default. i might just get two microamp boards and structure them the same way the stages of the stumble are (first stage is the buffer, second stage is the recover) to get the thing i really want.
