Rat Diode Switching with Rotary problem

Hi! beginner pedal modder here, i understand a bit of electronics and its terms

im planning to build the ultimate proco rat pedal but the rotary mod seems a bit off..
i am using a 2P6P rotary to match both of the diodes, when i plugged it in it just sounds so fizzy and crackly (like a blown out speaker), i tried switching to different modes but all of them has the same clipping sound. i suspect the signal was not going anywhere thus just uses the op amps grainy clipping and something is wrong with the wiring
at first it seemed like thats the case but when is shorted out the position/mode i was currently in the sound vanishes, which i assumed that means the switch is working fine as intended but the signal is going through.. somewhere???
again i have little clue on why it does this and i think this might be a rookie mistake

heres an image of basically what i did

I used a 1p8t on mine.

sweeet, how many total combinations is that?? i definitely see more than 16 diodes
I was planning to use 2 1p8t so i can mix and match different diodes but it was obviously an overkill
and im limited to the fact that im just adding extra components for a pre existing proco rat pcb i found for cheap, maybe one day i could learn to design pcbs

8 different selections. From my experience, 6 is plenty. It goes difficult to find something to fill the last 2 slots.
