So this project is still not quite done.

I'm not loving these pickups. Even they're supposed to be the "real thing". They sound unbalanced to me and the neck pickup is a bit muddy under gain.....sigh.

So unless my "lost in the machine" MadLove pickups seized by customs miraculously show up, I've got some new pickups coming.

Ok, my Lollar Regals arrived yesterday as I posted about in the Mailbox thread...

I popped them in last night and MAN OH MAN what a difference.

For some reason I just did not get along with the "real deal" Fenders. So they're up for sale.

The Lollars are not "vintage spec" in the sense that he does not use CuNiFe magnets but rather plain old A5.
But certainly voiced correctly. Lot's of WRBH winders only offer genuine CuNiFe magnets to satisfy buyers who want the "genuine" article. Nevermind if it's identical sounding to Alnico or other magnets.

Anyway., these baby's sound completely different yet the same. It's got the whole WRHB vibe going on clean but also takes gain very well.
(The Fenders tended to fall apart under gain for some reason).

I'm finally ready to do a demo of this guitar. Stay tuned.....



I also broke down and bought a postal scale. Nice light super resonant guitar!

Oh and also come closure for my missing MadLove pickups. After getting seized by Customs they shipped them back to MadLove in Australia.
Who knows why.
Michael Pledger of MadLove is a great guy, he refunded me.

So close that chapter.

I had a Suhr Classic Strat.

By all accounts probably the best "modern" playing Strat out there right now.
I don't know why I just didn't get on with it.

Played like a dream. Maybe kinda like PRS, a little "too perfect" if that makes sense. I also discovered that I don't like Stainless Steel frets.
They just don't "feel" right to me. (I know I'm wierd).

I didn't want to dig into it with mods and devalue it. So I sold it for more than I paid for it heh.

I still lust after them from time to time though.

I think I had just finished my second "recent" Strat parts caster at the time, and I much preferred the tone and feel of my M-Line guitars.

I prefer super-light instruments. Great job on that WRHB build!
