“Holy crap! Another build report from Mr Black Hat?” I know. Crazy right!? Well, once again, this is courtesy of @Guardians of the analog . He sent me this pcb along with the OD-1 I posted about previously. And when a homie sends you stuff, you’re obligated to build it.

The CH-1 is a collaboration between Chris and @dan.schumaker for the classic, and often overlooked, analog Boss CH-1 chorus. I’m definitely guilty of overlooking it and like what I said about the Boss OD-1… I never gave this chorus a chance or even had it on my radar either. Shame on me because this thing fornicates. My favorite setting is maxing out the depth and having the rate really low. It has this flanger-esque kinda thing going on that I really dig. Dialing back the eq a little bit shaves off some high mid annoyance and a mix/blend is way more useful than I ever thought it could be with guitar. Add in the fact that it’s relay bypass and it’s a perfect match for running in front of a dirty amp. As I always do with chorus and flanger, I ran it after delay to modulate my repeats and… Chef’s kiss on that one too. There’s not much more I can really add except thanks once again to Chris for pushing me outside of my comfort zone and giving this chorus a shot.
