Searching for guide/basic knowledge

Hello ! It's been few years since I build my first pedal. For now I juste buy kits, solder everything and have a good time with my new pedal, but I'd like to have more understanding of what am I doing and how it really works. My question is, there is some books or anything that recap all the basic knowledge to build effect pedals ? I really don't know where to start ... I'm not afraid of math (I may be a little bit rusty but should be fine), I had some electronic classes when I was a student in university. I know when I was homebrewer there was a lot of books about beer, I'm searching for this kind of stuff but for pedals (and who knows, it's been 6 years I work as a brewer, maybe one day I'll go from beer making to pedal/amp making to live) (and if there is any book with french translation, it will be easier for me !)
Have a nice day ! 😊

The best way to understand what’s going on IMO is a “learned theory” approach. Learn about the basic (opamps, transistors, tone controls) and then try them out on a breadboard to learn what component does what. The below link will be helpful but there are a lot of items in there that assume you know the basics.

A breadboard was the best way for me to figure out what happens if I change a pot value, etc. There are tons of tutorials in the Test Kitchen and the resource section to help get you started. Read, read again, and then one more time while you try it out in a breadboard. You’ll be an expert before you know it.

Electrosmash is a good resource that has circuit analysis you can follow along with.

Something like a Big Muff could be a good place to start. They have a good article there and combined with something like Kit Rae’s Big Miff site, you can tweak components in real time to hear what they are doing.
