I couldn’t find a thread like this, so why not? Here is a place to share your musical creations.

@Dan0h wanted to hear some of my Minibrute 2 into the Aion Isotope I described in the stacking thread:

Track is made on Ableton 10 Lite. The synth sequence is an Arturia Minibrute 2, both oscillators set to sawtooth waves, and the filter cutoff patched to a slow tempo synced LFO for some hand free variation.

It’s run into an Aion Isotope, based on part of the IVP Tubesound Preamp unit. Gain maxed, Level set accordingly. I fiddle with the Bass and Treble knobs throughout. For example, when the drums drop and the guitar comes in I turn Bass up and Treble all the way down, then gradually reverse that motion. At the very end when the drums stop, I leave the pedal maxed start turning the Cutoff and Resonance on the synth. The synth track is dry in the DAW except for the reverb automated into the very last note at the end.

The guitar part is my Dean Hardtail into my pedal board, with the PPCB Defouler Distorion and my vero Mr. Black Boost Tiger clone (for volume) run into my interface, and no amp sims or other effects except for the Overloud Gem Mod (a Dimension D style plugin). It’s a cool sound, kind of hollow and whispery, with almost no attack dynamic. I had to cut this track down to one part that loops twice, because my original jam inconsistent.

The drums are two kits: the default Ableton 707 effected with a Waves Bezerk distortion plugin for some punch and crunch.

The other is a kit I built as needed for the track, mostly the default 505 samples and a random clave for that one part. This track has some modulation plugin on it… I forgot what it’s called but I was trying it out for the first time to give the clave something extra and it ended up staying on the whole time. It also has Ableton’s reverb with a slightly tweaked medium hall preset.

The only other thing is the PG-8x synth plugin, used for a single sustained note when the guitar comes in.

I am very much a noob at all of this, so I used just the maximizer in Ozone Elements to keep the level in check. Other than the chorus on the guitar, it’s a pretty mono track. I just wanted to tweak the jam into something fun so I didn’t go too deep with panning percussion or anything.

So with all the info no one asked for, feel free to leave some feedback and share your own stuff!

Nice idea. I rarely ever share music.

Your track sounds pretty cool. I am going to start building a little synth stuff later this year so it's interesting to listen to what people are doing with it.

Probably one of the more applicable things I've recorded in years is this little bit. It was to demonstrate the Escobedo Jawari pedal. Really great simple pedal that is supposed to cop the sound of a sitar a little. The track has a simple melody and a couple droning volume sweeps that I pan back and forth. Pretty happy with how it turned out considering the length of time I put into making it was about two minutes of planning and exactly four times the length of the track plus a few seconds to hit stop and go back to the beginning.

I really don't play live often, but in the recent years (read pre-pandemic), I'd maybe play between 1-3 shows per year, and most likely one of those would be at the Drone Day event in Ottawa.
This year, it was a virtual event, so I stitched together snippets of improv sessions I did the week before.
Guitar, synths and the monomer norns were used into making these sounds.
I thought images would be nice too, so the day before, I grabbed some videos from the Prelinger Archives and quickly edited something.
Most of the guitar parts is Plecostomus -> Barbershop Modèle B -> Simulcast -> diverse mod FX from zoom MS-50g -> Meet Maude -> Context
(those effects were also used partly on the other parts)
Recorded direct in the Unicab -> mixer -> sound card. Only additional editing was just adjusting the levels of the different parts.

Shoot...I'll share.

I haven't recorded anything in YEARS.

This was from like...I dunno...6-7 years ago. Vocals are a little weak, done in a single take.

Wrote this one when I was 17. Sheittte.

Delirium

Then theres my old metal band where I played bass...this was a lot of fun:

Holy shit man, those sound awesome. Delirium played the heart strings for me, and your vocals definitely fit in well. The guitar and piano combo is a great vibe.

Hypocrite was amazing as well. Your drummer is insane and I much enjoyed the vocals, which is often what makes or breaks it for me with metal bands. And I heard the bass! Over all a very tight and sonically cohesive track.

Thank you for sharing!

I think I may have shared this previously, but I'll share again - why not?

This is from the originals band I was in years back. I'm still in contact with the guitar player and drummer and we keep taking about getting together again with a different singer.

We recorded these over two days at Bell Studio in Hollywood. My first time in a legit studio and was petrified through the entire recording, afraid to touch just about anything.

The funniest part is that I rolled my rig in to the studio (SWR Goliath III 4x10 and Mesa 400+ head) and the engineer just shook his head at me in that "there is no way I am dealing with that today" kind of way. I recorded direct 🤣

Ohhhhhh man. That drummer is a monster. Good dude too...my fiance and I hang with him and his wife as often as we can get together.

We both kinda...eh...stopped making music when we got into the trades.

My lady is bugging me to get back into it, though. Probably cause she's sick of stepping on resistor leads.

Appreciate the kind words!

Dig the one you posted, definite PHM/Only vibes. Devil horns, headbang.

That sounds awesome, man. You and @SYLV9ST9R got me hankering to spend more time with my synths.

Now that is rock and roll! Sounds great, bass is super tight with the tracks imo. And the vocals🤘. Love the tones on dirty laundry.

Thank you for sharing and checking out the other stuff in this thread!

Thanks, man. I like the way he mixed the bass on The Revolt. That was always our last song and tended to get people moving.

I love this. What is that pedal?
It’s one of Tim Escobedo’s circuit snippets

Lots of killer stuff from circa 2000ish. Turn on the century DIY stuff :ROFLMAO:

That sounds really cool. It’s hard to find high quality recordings of the Escobedo circuits like that. That one does the sitar thing quite well for as simple a circuit as it is.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, there is a big part of me that wants to start a group who build them all and makes demos to create some sort of resource for people to hear just how good some of them are.

Those circuits are classics and I’m sad to say I’ve never tried a single one. They are so different, but use minimal components for wild effects by the looks of em’. Any favorites you would recommend?

I’m definitely not as accomplished as the lot of you in both pedal building, musicianship, or recording... Everthing I do is has just been half completed ideas or messy improvisations some of which have been pedal demos but here is a project that was abandoned relatively quickly I have yet embarrassed myself with or subjected you to

Hey @wintercept thanks for starting this thread. I was gonna post something similar recently but didn't get around to it. I'm enjoying listening to all y'all's bands

I've always been in bands as long as I've been playing guitar. I literally can't imagine a life without playing music

https://isolationvoid.bandcamp.com/music this page has some demos of bands I've been in the past few years and were recorded at home by me. I played all the instruments on the False Moon demo and that was my first time playing drums. The drummer from Terminated moved to Texas right after we recorded this, and Sentience will probably continue to be a band but we haven't done anything since before the pandemic.

I was just saying the other day that I want to get something new going. I'd love to play some stuff with country rock, soul, acid rock, or folk rock influence too

I've recorded this song probably 5-6 times by now, but I finally went to an actual studio to do it, and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I didn't pay for mastering so this is just a rough mix, but I dig it so far. I haven't had any luck starting a band so I'm playing everything myself.

Clean/delay guitar uses a TRex Replicator, dirty guitar is my Soldano GTO clone, and bass is through my original bass preamp pedal.

You turned me on to those Brown Acid comps a while back and I have to say that it has been pretty inspiring. I started sending it to the guitar player to get him on board. He wants to do something in the vein of the band Ghost and I felt like a dose of something off those Brown Acid comps is just what it needs.
