This is such a great boost, a circuit that feels to have been "tweaked" to perfection. (by the wizard Chuck D. Bones, Celestial Engineering)

The gain control goes smoothly from big and clean to hairy balls and even into fuzzy goodness. And all of that with the warm and wooly tonal bliss of a JFET-pushed germanium transistor.

I like the Voice toggle on FLAT and especially on BOOM.

Q1 is a 2N5457 and Q2 a MP38A.
(I apparently didn't write down any numbers, but I'm pretty sure HFE of Q2 was in the 60ies.)

There were some Gremlins in the footswitch and/or the board, adding jumpers solved that the lazy way.

I love the Texel. Great boost!

Interesting with the gremlins. I know it’s not the board because I’ve built a few of them but maybe the footswitch breakout is a problem. Was that the first time you used one of them?

Oh, I didn't want to imply that the PCB itself is faulty, that was just about where the problem (or solution) was located: the footswitch and its board. I also used those foot switch breakout before on other builds and everything was fine.
I'm sure I messed up something, but I just don't get it.
