My parents bought me this 1963 Jazzmaster as a graduation gift in 1998. It cost $500 CAD which even back then seemed like a sweet deal (~$375 USD back in those days). It had been really badly refinished when I got it in a thick 1980s-style poly, and someone had shaved the neck down to ibanez-levels of thinness and as a result, the headstock has cracked more times than I can count over the years (that got shaved down too).

For our 20th anniversary together I had it refinished, got a new pickguard (splashed out for a spitfire even!) to replace the very cracked and shrunken original, and reverted it to an original-style bridge (staytrem) from the TOM that I had installed shortly after I got it and tried to get through a single rehearsal without knocking the strings off the saddles. I'm mostly a drummer, but I've played guitar in a couple of bands over the years and this has always been my main guitar. Of the half dozen or so guitars that I have these days, this might not get the most use but it's definitely the sentimental favourite.

Oly white and and a celluloid tort guard always make my knees weak. That is gorgeous.

Here is my pawn shop bass. It was stock and basically unplayed. I changed...well everything. I play it much more than the bass that cost me 20x more. Such is life !

I'm getting a very 70's vibe from this bass. I feel like you need at least shoulder length hair, a paisley shirt, and a fan on you at all times while on stage with this thing. Majestic.

Here's my #1, a Gibson SG Standard '00 in natural burst. It plays beautiful, but it took me a while and three pickup sets to really make it shine. A couple of friends owned it before I did. The last owner installed a pair of SD Antiquities, but I always found them a little lackluster and thin. I then traded them for a pair of Gibson '57 Classics, but it ended up being too dark. A few months ago I installed a pair of SD Seth Lovers and now I'm at home!

Anyway, here's a picture taken earlier today:

I have a 12-year old grandson, so yeah, sounds like the right era!

I am loving all the stories and pictures!

My 1995 MIM with parts from the Corona Factory when they moved to Mexico. I purchased it new in 1995 in Brunswick, ME.

I've tried getting into SG's and everyone I've own I turned around and sold, but damn this is a nice looking SG... love the top.

Another one for the bassist in us all;
A Midnight Blue Ric. This guitar is the reason for my next DIY amp.
I don't deserve it, period.

I have wanted a Ric for ages - I really do think that they are one of the most beautiful instruments available, not to mention they are right up the street from me. I've never had the opportunity to play one, unfortunately. That is one hot bass!

Man there's some serious "Schwang!" in this thread, and great stories to boot.

I don't wanna single anything out, 'cause it's all great and I really mean it — but ...

@chongmagic's pic ... I'm digging the Strat and story while ogling the pedalicious board and then I spot...
