Latest build, finally got round to it after it sat in my bits drawer for ages. Very pleased with the build, probably my neatest work yet.

Pedalpcb "Simulcast" aka a Hudson Broadcast.

This is quite an interesting pedal, I've never played an original so I'm not sure how it compares. There's some really nice tones in there but 1) its REALLY REALLY LOUD, with the toggle on Med or High gain the usable volume for me is all in a tiny fraction of the dial. 2) its really very bright indeed with the Low-cut sat anywhere above 9 o'clock - I refuse to believe anybody likes it above half way.

There definitely are some great tones in there but this limits the usability a little bit for me. Are all Broadcasts like this?

For future reference, here is the drill template I used. Its a Tayda 125B enclosure in "Silver Hammer".

If you never build it with the charge pump, could the electrolytic capacitors be lower than 35v?

Theres a mod to make it a little less bright by connecting a cap between the legs of the transistor. I have a 1nf under mine and still run the low cut about 9oclock. I run about 3pm gain on my duocast, but the volume around 8-9oclock. Sounds great to me though.

Just finished this pedal today. I like it! But I wish it had a treble roll-off tone pot. I spent an hour or two auditioning Ge transistors, and it seems to prefer slightly higher hfes. The highest gain tranny I had which worked was a Russian MP20 at around 90 and it sounds pretty good. Actually all of the MP20s sounded good but the lower the gain got the brighter the tone. I also tried some other "better quality" Ges (can't remember the numbers) but they all sucked.

But even with the good transistors it's still a little crisper (brighter) than I'd like. It's a good sound and I like how it...

This is the way. 95% of the time, linear taper is BS for volume controls.

Thanks! I will give that a go at some point - even though the pedal is usable as is, I would prefer it to have a more useful sweep.
