I’m a big fan of the seabed for short and medium delays. Get a few pt chips as some are noisier than others. But at short delay times, they have less noise so it should work great.
Ok, so I pulled out me Seabed and yep, it'll do exactly what my buddy is looking for.
That said, I'm completely sold on the Unison. Any idea if you're going to do anymore pre-soldered FV-1s, @Robert? The last time I tried to do one on my own it didn't end well...and I'm certainly not going to "practice" SMD on a Univision board
I used to use a Deep Blue Delay for slapback but after using a TC Flashback for slapback found that it was a bit too dark for what I wanted. Some players actually prefer the analog sound for slapback so it may well be that the DBD/Seabed is perfect for your friend.
The TC Flashback is a great delay. Now I'm using a UA Starlight which is a beautiful sounding delay and it does a great slapback too. It's a bit overkill to use it just for slapback but it does it well!
