SMT Question

I am using metal tweezers for putting the SMT in place I noticed there is a slight magnetism to them I soldering 2N5457 and J201 would that little bit of magnetism do any damage to the chips?

If at all, you should be concerned about electrostatic discharge. Some transistors are quite susceptible to failure in this regard. I don't remember exactly which models now, but I think the 2N7000 was among them. I've already fried one or two. Not sure when and how - probably when handling or soldering. But those are only two units I've damaged when handling/soldering/using. No other victims to report :)

Good to know about the 2N7000 and I’m pretty cautious about IC and trans but I’m new to SMT stuff and I don’t think SMT is going anywhere soon so might as well embrace it. There’s some guys out there doing amazing stuff with SMT a guy named JOK3ER (I think) did a tight metal pedal that was outstanding

I’m actually looking for why after soldering J201s and putting them in the PAL800 I can bias them but can only get a clean signal thought maybe I fried them so I’m thinking now I got a wrong value in there somewhere since chances are slim I fried one and I also tried by ear no crunch
