Hi,
I waited to receive my ebay PN4393 to build the Softii and I was frustrated to see that I got no sound out of it.
Once I unsoldered them (lesson learned, always socket a jfet !), I have put some J201 and some 2n5457 and I get another issue : The fuzz in wayyy too fuzzy, it sounds like the Death By Audio Absolute Destruction, like crushing the sound to silence when I strum hard. Usually, I would try to adjust the bias, but there is 6 Jfets and no bias trimpots on the build...
I will try to order some real PN4393 from mouser/digikey and try again, meanwhile, anyone has an Idea how I could adjust it so that it sounds good with any other Jfet ?
