Andrew at Synchrony Pedalworks was kind enough to gift this to me. It’s his take on the PPCB Marigold Fuzz (Sola Sound Yellow Hybrid Tone Bender). Thanks so much Andrew! @Synchrony Pedalworks
This is a beautiful take on a Tone Bender! I’ve seen some reports of this sounding like a Big Muff but I’m not getting that AT ALL. It sounds like a TB mkIII with a little silicon sizzle to it! I used pretty low gain transistors so maybe that helped. For Q1 I used a BC108B with hfe just over 200, for Q3 a BC108C with hfe of about 440, and an unmarked germanium in Q3 with an hfe of 85 and low leakage. Surprisingly my nos Philips BC109’s had an hfe of 200 lol! I decided not to use those.
If you haven’t built this do it. It’s a great hybrid fuzz that plays well with your volume knob and is also surprisingly quiet.
