'Tis the waning minutes of Kirstmeis and while I'm still digesting my lovely wife's meal I wanted to sneak out a quick missive before Boxing Day.
Last year I built the MAS Effects Christmas Tree pedal-ornament for a friend, which had a fried LED and thanks to this incredible forum's more incredible community of people, my build was troubleshot swiftly.
This year, for a different friend, my wife had knit some socks and so I thought it fitting he should get something warm and fuzzy from me too. So I stitched up the following in the afternoon earlier today (actually the build went very well, I didn't stitch it up a bit, well the strap a wee bit):
I had to mod it of course, or what's the point of DIY? So the first big mod is a GREEN LED to replace the supplied red LED.
I could've gone white LED, or water-drop clear with whatever colour, but Red Stocking & Green LED just seemed the most traditionally festive.
The next BIG mod was the retaining strap for the battery; the kit-instructions say to use clipped excess-wire from the battery snap. Well, black or red wasn't what I wanted, MORE GREENERY!
Alas, the strap I made was too short, so I had to solder-suck it back out and install a longer strap, minutes before Chirstlemassive dinner. Talk about stressful.
I know, my mods are getting too radical, but I just had to go for it.
Otherwise, a stock build.
This MASsive Stocking is a fuzz pedal with no bypass, a set-it-forget-it volume-trimmer — perfect for my guitar-fiend's punk-rock roots, and it Fuzzed right up first try.
Perhaps this should've gone in the Build Reports section, but I wanted to ...
WISH YOU ALL A SAFE HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!
Thank you for enriching my life, I hope to do the same for you in future.
