Finished up this abyss pedal yesterday. It was originally in an enclosure but removed it to troubleshoot.
The initial problem was a hissing noise that would increase with the volume knob. All other knobs worked as designed except for the hissing volume.
Took it out of the enclosure and the problem persisted. Did some research and I’ll list below what I changed in an attempt to fix the problem.
Reflowed solder.
Changed out the tl072.
Hooked the pedal back up. Noticed the LDR LED was lit up but the pedal was in bypass. So now the LDR LED is on 100% of the time and no noise when the pedal is on. Just the LED indicating the pedal is on. The LDR LED also responds to the control knobs. Then I did a few more things.
Changed out the 1/4 mono jacks.
Reflowed solder.
Changed out the foot switch and wiring to it.
Inspect any component leads that may be touching others.
I believe the soldering is all good. Reflowed it enough that a lot of it is on the opposite side of the board.
Still no progress. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
