The Partscaster Thread

Thanks :) I love the thinline, semi-hollow with humbuckers is kind of my thing now. Over the years I've owned:
  • 2 thinline strats
  • 3 thinline teles
  • 2 semi-hollow les pauls
  • 2 full-size gibson hollow bodies
  • 1 semi-hollow jazz bass
And of those 10 guitars, 2 were sparkly blue and 8 were brown. All 10 had humbuckers. 8 of them had gold hardware. I'm a simple man, I know what I like.
I wish I did, I’ve got like 46(?) guitars now. I still can’t make up my mind. I can’t decide which ones to sell either. I may have a problem.

They are not. Tonerider, I believe. I wonder if Lollars would make me love it.
Toneriders are excellent pickups very reasonably priced. I don't know too much about Mustang pickups but I know the TR Humbuckers, Strats and P90's are all excellent, the ones I've tried. Their Alnico II Humbuckers will give the boutique PAF dudes a run for their money for sure.

Maybe the scale is not working for you? Have you had any joy with short-scale?
You may be right. I got it out and messed with it last night. I think I’m going to do some work on it today and get it tuned up. The only other short scale is a bass I have. I’ve had it for almost 40 years. I haven’t played it in probably 30.

Out with the old, in with the new.

I also removed the pickguard plastic finally. I really like the neck from samsguitarshop on ebay, it has an interesting shape, very small shoulders almost somewhere between a C and a V. It made the guitar much louder as well, which is interesting. The vintage tint is pretty strong on it and I'm not sure its working with the natural ash body, but maybe a coat of paint down the line will fix that up.

I love those necks!

Saw everyone talking about the stratosphere so i figured i should post my partscaster from a body and neck from thestratosphere too! i originally saw those jazzmaster body strats and loved the solid rosewood necks so i decided to build my own so i could get a bit more savvy with filing the frets and nut and all the other minor set up stuff. put locking fender tuners on it then threw some highwood bridge saddles on it and switched the stock pickups for tex mex. experimented with a few different wiring options for the pickups but i like the punchiness from the modern wiring arrangement so i went with that and threw in a pretty minor tone bleed as well. the tex mex pickups really surprised me at how much more output they have compared to the stock alnico 5s! and that’s pretty much it! i’ve been thinking about repainting the body or doing a hydro dip type thing with it but i’m pretty satisfied with the set up now so i probably never will.
