@jimilee , The Pakistan-China trip described above, one of the guys at the very beginning of the trip ate a yoghurt bar that had an inflated wrapper (we told him not to) — he was violently ill and had to go to a military hospital. Another comrade got a broken collarbone about halfway into the trip, finished the trip with it clicking away...
There were many other bike-trips where we all got sick in one form or another: a friend had high-altitude pumonary edema while we were in India so we stuck him in a truck to get him to hospital and after biking up the pass there he was, stuck in a traffic-jam at the top of the pass — a military truck had overturned causing a blockage both ways — we managed to find a Jeep-driver on the far side of the accident willing to go back to Leh (nearest hospital) for about the cost of our plane-tickets; I got food poisoning in the Phillippines, victim of bad water in Laos even though we were careful, unwittingly and blithely riding through a Hatfield/McCoy-like warzone in Chitral...
