today’s forecast has been like this 🥵 (degrees celsius)
so what better time to do a build demo for an infamous pedal circuit that has certainly copped some choice opinions in recent times.

to make matters worse, i was impatient and didn't wait for the trace to be released, drew a vero layout with the “Bob Meyer pencil schematic” that was posted on a thread here and then i built it.

i was satisfied with the build and it sounded alright, resembling a low-end heavy fuzz distortion character much like the demos.

it could do with a bit more treble. seems a little dark.
i guess that's why bass dudes are enjoying it, as it's certainly got the girth, and i like that part of it a lot, but i’ve found it really needs something else in front of it to make it sound its best and bloom properly, and when it does it's actually a pretty satisfying grinding distortion.

anyway here’s the demo, i’ve also got my stock RAT build in front of it for some (low gain) boosting which really brings this muff alive.
tbh possibly worth building a big muff 2 just for this combination alone - very satisfying.

mostly i'm just pleased i was able to make it all fit neatly in this red sand 1590B.

and yep, i can see why the real/traced version has a lot of power supply arrangements going on because my build seems to be fairly noisy and somewhat mildly gated/odd decay in some aspects.
having said that, mildly boosting with the RAT in front seems to nullify any issues i've encountered with decay or any possible gating.

Wow I'm really liking the low end on this thing. Like Alice and Chains or Soundgarden -- I like what you're playing! Doesn't hurt going through the 4x12 and the nice amp too! And the sound at about 1:50 when you're playing sort of dark harmony in the middle of the neck -- that's a *great* tone dude!
