Vibrato on delay signal

I have been given an intentionally ridiculous pedal idea to ponder and I'm getting stuck. My friend wants a big ol box with a stacked fuzz and OD on one side and a Memory Man style delay with boost on the other for solos.

He does NOT like how the Memory Man can't handle much gain going into it, but DOES like the pitch vibrato you can add to the delayed signal.

I have plan for stacking a fuzz and an OD (with a toggle switch to reverse the order) for side 1, and I'm considering something like the Amentum boost in front of the Seabed or Cataclysm for the side 2.

Where I'm getting stuck: How to add pitch vibrato to the delayed signal?

Any thoughts appreciated :)

Depending on how much vibrato you need, you could check out some demos of the Magnetron / Keeley Mag Echo. Definitely easier if you don't have to re-invent the wheel.

There's also the Dark Rift which has a lot more/ crazier modulation on tap, but I didn't like the noise level on that one.

Madbean has a few different DMM PCBs with vibrato already included.
Looks like they're sold out but that would absolutely be my preference :(

100%. Just sent this one over to my bud to see what he thinks about it.

You're welcome to this schematic if it's of any use.
Thank you! I'm not there yet 🫠

The DMM is a really cool classic circuit and I think the MBP DMM projects are as good as you'll find, but that one was more of a white whale/ right of passage to get built and sounding right for me.

I don't know where you're at in your pedal building journey, but I wouldn't recommend that one until you're looking for a challenge, and it wouldn't make sense to me at all for a combo build.

+1

The Skoolie has a charge pump (15V), input pot and wiggles, and its in stock ATM.

Totally. I think a good part of this is going to be talking my friend down. Would love to have a DMM in my own collection one day, but think this combo thing should go for simple and good, rather than ... trying to find a pedalboard-sized enclosure.

I've built 15ish pedals so far, plus a number of guitars and a tube amp, but I'm still at the "only looking at schematics when something is wrong" phase of building things.

Pt2399 is run off a 5v power supply, so with a hot enough signal it could clip. I know I’ve had a Belton brick reverb clip on me (which is built out of pt2399s).

On any of the pt2399 circuits like the seabed or magnetron, you can reduce gain before the pt2399 and recover the volume after.

Also, I’d probably put the boost circuit after delay rather than before.

Reminds me Parasit Studio has a modulation Mod board with a pot for rate and a fixed depth resistor that could be replaced with 2 wires and an offboard pot. https://parasitstudio.com/shop/Modboard-daughterboard-p752039729

If you look at the build doc this would be easy to add between pt2399 pin6 and the delay pot.

Edit: Available as a kit from Musikding
