Drive Like Jehu is one of my all-time favorite bands and when I saw Way Huge had made a limited edition Jehu Drive combining their two best drive circuits (Rhino and Llama) into a limited edition enclosure and named it Jehu Drive, I knew I needed to make one of my own.
I used two AionFX boards: Yacana and Karkadann and wired up a 3pdt switch to change the order. Then for the indicator lights, I used red and green for the respective drive. Other than the messy wiring which I'll just make a PCB for in the future, it was a straight forward build. I went with the Drive Like Jehu aesthetic and used paint pens on a white enclosure to mimic their amazing Yank Crime album.
As far as the drive goes, they both give interesting sounds but I really like Green Rhino into the Red Llama the most. Now the kicker is, Drive Like Jehu just used Les Paul's into cranked Marshalls and never used pedals in their initial incarnation... so, really I just had an idea for a pedal design and did it.
