You know I've been having a look at it tonight and think I might have a go at this. If I fail I can always gut it later.

I've been looking at the schematic and specs I found online and realised it needs mains power for the internal transformer which supplies 28v to the bulb for the ldr. I don't see why I couldn't replace the bulb with an led and run the whole pedal off my normal power supply. Everything else apart from that bulb is just normal pedal voltages as far as I can see.

Here's the schem I found online for a slightly later revision. It's all I can find so far.

I think that schematic may be missing the +60V flag somewhere around Q2 (MPSA06). There is a thread on FSB with a schematic for a serial number slightly lower than yours:


Based on your board pics, it looks like some traces have been cut & electros replaced, but I can't tell for certain. In any case, I'd say use the housing for something else unless you're comfortable messing with the transformer.

First get it working
Second make it loud
Third see what happens

Then go from there.

That's the option I'm leaning towards. Just not sure what to put in it. There's just so much space.
