Whatchu sittin on? (chair thread)

I am using an old office chair but looking to replace it as well. I have been eyeing a couple Herman miller knock offs.

At work we have Herman Miller Aeron chairs but they were bought used during the pandemic from a company that went under. You could probably could get one under the $500 but make sure it is a real one.

I am "that guy" and wiped it down extensively with a Clorox wipe when I started here 2 years ago and while it looked clean, the nasty wipes showed how gross it really was. I don't want years of people's farts in my office.

In my searches I saw one with this advertising piece in the photos. Breathable, stay cool all day and the "golf" ball really got a good laugh.

I have an ancient HM Aeron in chrome gotten at a business closure for (relative) peanuts 20 years ago. Doesn't have every point of adjustment (really wish I had armrest height adjustment), but it's been decent. Maybe I'll replace it here soon, but I haven't really found a better chair than it.

We got new stools in one of the labs at work and they seemed super nice, really comfortable and lots of features, so I looked up the model number so I could grab one for the workshop. Apparently they're $2500. My butt is not that important.

Get yourself a used Herman Miller Aeron and call it a day. Where I live, there is generally a good selection of them on Craigslist for well under $300. I’ve tried a lot of other office/gaming chairs, and none of them have been as comfortable or good for my posture. They’re build very well, too. Mine is a 2001 and still feels as good as new.

During covid, for the brief time I got to work from home, I bought a remanufactured Steelcase Leap v2 from Crandall Office Furniture. Back in 2020 it came in at just under $500, even with a couple upgrades. Looks like they've since gone up considerably in price, but should still be quite a bit cheaper than brand new. When I got mine, I couldn't even tell that it was remanufactured, it looked (and even smelled) brand-new to me.

At work, we have the cheap Office Depot/Office Max Herman Miller knock-offs. They are adequate, but my Steelcase Leap is noticeably better. I often think about buying another to take to work, considering I spend more time in it than I do my bed!
