1 - jack up car and get underneath, then work that bish out and put the new one in

3 - struggle
4 - install
5 - test drive and find out nothing changed

gf's car
1 - timing belt and water pump
2 - valve cover gaskets
3 - exhaust leak right where it joins the manifolds so I have to take the whole exhaust apart and gaskets for all that
4 - oil pan gasket because it's going to be right there anyway
5 - there some random EGR shit to redo while i'm in there
6 - serpentine belts and pulleys idk
7 - intake manifold gasket bc that comes off to do the rear vc gasket
8 - spark plugs
9 - maybe replace some suspension parts I bought for it.... 3 years ago

figure out why my airbag light is on
1 - connect the diag software
2 - download the files containing the error code info and send it to the guy I was discussing this with 2 months ago
3 - send him my modules so he can hopefully re initialize them
4 - install them and pray the light goes off

drum project
1 - recut 14" ring
2 - decide if I want to fuck myself by reworking the 14" drum so it doesn't need latches
3 - that's stupid just keep it moving
4 - cut roundover into bass drum hoops, sand, paint
5 - watch videos on spray lacquer, sand, paint again, idk how I'm going to hold it
6 - purchase the wrap and finally finish it

pedals
1 - resist the urge to buy 3 more Fumble boards
2 - drill out the 8 enclosures I have ready to go and install the circuit boards and figure out what knobs to use
3 - order new knobs
4 - strip and clean 4 more enclosures
5 - primer them
6 - stare at the circuit boards until I think of color schemes
7 - find a nice day when its not too humid to clear coat them
8 - wait a week (three months) and drill them out

Fun stuff I haven't started yet but am still excited about:
- making a new (smaller) pedal board and maybe another that fits my wah pedal
- build new soldering desk for downstairs
- putting together a lego set I got two christmasses ago
- joining a band???

Getting on in years has my wonderful spouse prompting me to move the washer & dryer setup to our main floor so she doesn't have to go up & down so many stairs to the basement. Got a new stacked washer/dryer combo and needed to supply water, drain, gas and electrical to the new spot in the house. All that's left is to run the new 120v AC line to the breaker box before the new unit arrives on the 22nd.

Multimeter (Amprobe) is acting up, measurement readings are jumping around. First I thought it was the test leads because the plugs have definitely gotten looser over time. The amprobe test leads are prohibitively expensive so I hope it's not them, or worse the jacks they plug into.

I opened it up to take a look and noticed the battery expired over a year ago. Then I noticed it was working okay when the battery cover was off. Current theory is that the battery is failing, especially while being squished in place by the cover.
So I ordered a new pack of 9Vs because I'm out and I can use them for pedals anyway. I can't even find my backup harbor freight meter to steal the battery or leads from which is kinda humorous. Fingers crossed until fresh batteries arrive.

Don't you have one of those

Don't have one of these? They came with the 9V pedal board power supplies in the past, alongside the positive barrel, DOD plug, etc...

I gave up hope long ago, but I still get blindsided and worry about the human race

So we have a small Makerspace at work. We have 3D printers, sewing machines, a laser engraver and of course soldering station. We have been using these old ass Hakko that no longer work properly for a long time. So I managed to get the budget to purchase 2 Pace soldering stations which are a huge upgrade. I set one up a couple weeks ago and I went to set up the second one today. To my dismay, somebody managed to abuse the tip of the first one so badly that the protective coating is completely gone and solder no longer flows on the tip. I was pretty furious. I suspect people have been using the iron for tasks other than soldering (like making threaded inserts for 3D printed stuff, smoothing 3D printed objects or worse). So now I’m gonna set up the old Hakko for hacks and stuff. But we are also out of a $24 tip which is annoying. I often dislike humans.

This was a fun week.

I made a mistake at work. Nothing catastrophic more of an open the door, off the record, have a chat with your boss, don’t do that again kind of mistake.

This came to light because a client sent a nasty email about me. It was around 1 amSunday night/Monday morning and judging by the tone, a few cocktails were involved.

The fun part? The email wasn’t just sent to me or my boss.

The guy somehow used ChatGPT and found an internal distribution list that included the board, C-suite and legal team of a multibilliondollar corporation. Like the real email address for the CEO, not the figurehead “email me any time” address one his assistants replies from. As an employee I didn’t even have access to it in my contacts.

First thing Monday morning, I reached out to smooth things over. Client was still upset but we worked through a plan to fix the issue and by the end of the conversation he was happy. He apologized for sending the email and when I explained who had received it, he couldn’t believe it. He immediately sent a follow up asking everyone to disregard it but the damage was already done.

I had a feeling the fallout was coming. Got the axe today.

Oddly enough, I’m relieved. The place has been toxic since day one and this just happened to be the final chapter.

So for now, I’m taking the weekend, relaxing, and looking forward to whatever comes next.

I’ll make the best of it.
