Where to go next? Wanting to expand my knowledge

I hadn't seen these before and spent a couple hours watching some of them. They were surprisingly better than I thought they'd be, but I also learned that Josh doesn't know electronics and you shouldn't listen to him that closely on technical matters.
I wonder how much of his revenue comes from the youtube channel

breadboarding allows you to hear in real time exactly what the circuit sounds like in the rig of your choice.
Yes and no, over time you learn to associate gain plots with timbres. And properties like the abruptness of clipping can be viewed on waveforms and through FFTs.

Breadboards are undeniable evidence of how something sounds but sims can give a lot of general insight whereas the fine tuning can happen on board/PCB.

Mostly it's a lot quicker to realize a topology is a dud in sim than breadboard.

I sim entire circuits then print to PCB and swap component values as needed. There's certainly been times where breadboarding would've helped but also it would've added a lot of time and tedium in other instances.

I'd also like to note that we actually can put Wav or MP3 files through LTspice and have a listen too, although IME rendering time can be a bit slow depending on how many outside component models I use.

Yeah I recently realized I could do DC transfer functions with stepped DC sources which then reveal input output transfer curve. Really cool for visualizing the softest overdrive so to speak.

OP has a point regarding when one is choosing between 2 different caps like 2n2 vs 2n7. That stuff really has to be heard but I find it easy enough to swap parts at PCB.

I'm mega fucked though if the topology had a bug. My favorite is when I tied digital and analog grounds of pt2399 but forgot to send them to actual ground plane. Then PCB really sucks. Some people will do wire jumps on board and tack things but I find that so messy I'd rather just respin board.

I have way more experience doing PCB rework than I would have preferred and definitely have to lean on that experience a bit too often sometimes. If drive and distortion widgets were more in my wheelhouse I'd certainly be more inclined to at least own a breadboard setup, and as always, never say never.

Yeah you primarily do filter design yes? That would be very well suited for sim?
