Why do you post a 'Build Report'?

I really hate this kind of corporate project flair. I really hate it at work but for pedals it seems quite nice. Something is always better when you are not forced.
I hear ya. There is definitely a difference between using trello for a hobby to represent something that’s a bit too big to fit in one’s head, and the oppressive governance of a system that sends managers warnings when a work item isn’t associated with a feature.

I see trello as a bit less industrial, and more like what I would build if I didn’t want to use sticky notes and a whiteboard.

It’s also handy for getting an album to the finish line. Recording, guest artist, overdubs, album art, editing, mixing, mastering, PRO registration, distribution, etc… lots of moving pieces.

I don’t, usually. I put no effort into artwork because that is a skill that I am lacking in, and there LD no reason anyone should look at my TS when there are 50 other build TS build reports…

That said, I will post a build report to document something I think should be documented. I guess you could consider it ‘juicing the algorithm’. For example, my last build report was for the Sunn Buzz, an obscure circuit that was new to me. I piqued my interest. I posted a build report, with pics and schematic so that now someone else might have an easier time finding and building it…

I also do it to encourage others. If I can learn how to build a vero echo pedal in 5 hours…from schematic, to breadboard, to completed pedal…well then it can’t be all that hard, can it?…

mostly as a sort of build log?
and then i suppose it's nice to have something to write about.
of the very few friends and people i interact with - many of them are gamers.
FFS. (gaming is not for me).
so i guess this shit is my hobby.
and no one else i know does stuff like this.
occasionally i'll share an IG post and yeah sometimes a couple folks be like wow bro how do u do dis omg (idk mate, probably because i'm a neurotic fucken loon / recovering alco with fuck all else going on outside of playing in a local band in a scene that died 10+ years ago.... what else am i gonna do lmao)

i mean yeah there's blogspot (as dead as it is) for shouting at clouds with build notes, but then who am i going to discuss the best way to dial an electrovibe with?
who else can i demonstrate to, that @Robert 's trace and production of the SLO pedal PCB is totally fine, doesn't require any mods, and doesn't oscillate at all, even if you dime every single control? :p

unfortunately, my builds continue to resemble kindergarten craft projects, so to soften the internal disappointment, i’ll usually try and accompany a build report with a demo to hopefully add some value.
imo a build report seems kinda incomplete without one. (unless of course it’s a super common circuit that everyone has seen and heard a hundred times +++)
but if you’re building something that’s out of production / rare - it's kinda mandatory.

Ego. Pride. Cause nobody else around me is particularly interested, and as far as I'm concerned y'all are just disembodied voices bouncing around my cranium.

So I dance, hoping to entertain these entities. For safety. To stave off their inevitable retribution.
