Coffee Talk

The workbench thread seemed to really take off with all the coffee talk, I figured we could use our own thread.

I mentioned that I was going to retire my Keurig when it finally died.... I jumped the gun (well technically not, it was wasting 1 out of 5 pods).

Yesterday we ran out of pods, rather than spend $40 on another case I just got a good old fashioned Mr Coffee and some whole beans. Now I'm sitting here hoping like hell I can find my bean grinder this morning or I'm going to me smashing them with a hammer or pliers. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Talk amongst yourselves .:coffee:

I use a burr grinder and a French press most days. If I’m just making a cup, then I’ll make a pour-over. I avoid drip coffee machines since they break way too easily and usually aren’t made to be fixed.

I've looked at the nice stainless steel commercial models in the past, but my kitchen cabinets are low enough to get in the way of the water fill door... and I think those would be too heavy to slide around.

They actually make them that connect to the water line, but that would involve drilling a hole in the counter top and since we're eventually going to move... one day... I figured I better not.

The next home owner might not be interested in running a coffee shop from their kitchen.

When we're settled though? Oh absolutely. The PedalPCB Corporate Office will have coffee on tap.

I got the little mini Keurig and a reusable cup for the coffee grounds. Works great and it's WAY cheaper with no waste.

Recommend me a decent bean grinder. Been using an old electric braun with just on /off switch so no real coarsness setting.
Want to make my own reusable K cups for work.

I go percolator, little bit more work up front but what a potent and tasty cup of coffee. A pot a day keeps the demons at bay.
I tried precolator but dont like the new ones. Not the same as what I remember from the 70s. The nice lazy prek is now more like a miniature nuclear reactor!!

Thanks for that.... I was standing in the kitchen talking to myself... "What? This is a burr grinder... Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. See?"
And I haven’t even left the driveway yet…this should be interesting

I'm the least Italian person I know but morning coffee for me is our typical pre-ground Lavazza Oro brewed in a Bialetti Moka pot.

The coffee connoisseur rabbit hole is too deep and full of quacky appliances and snobbery for me. I just wanna get going.

I’ve heard of putting words in someones’s mouth..and now I’ve seen it!
