Who besides David Gilmour used a power boost or overdriver? Who even uses a klon besides dorks with too much money?

Valid point. Though, it was a bit ahead of its time. Of course, this isn’t about popular pedals, it’s about Classic ones. Great examples of the genre. The Klon is THE transparent OD, which means it’s a classic by default…
 
The Klon, transparent? I thought the reason the Fender amp guys liked Klon because of the Mid boost?

That’s a serious question. I’m not super well versed in Klon-dom. I thought it’s lack of transparency was a part of its character.
That's what it says on the internet. I don't buy any of it, personally. My OD is most peoples Fuzz tone...
