Stu would really like both the Pendulum and the Seabed. I really like the idea of an order switcher between the delay and trem; I can set the Pendulum to get spooky close to the trem in my amp (Allen Encore with bias trem), and just last night was enjoying the differences between using the amp (end of chain), or the Pendulum (pre-delay).

It just so happens that I'm about to finish a Seabed. Got the Belton on Monday and soldered it on. I'll wire it up and audition before determining if it goes in a pedal on on Stu's Duro-nator. (might need to work on that name)

To those encouraging the Broadcast... Give me your thoughts.

I finished mine last week but I've only spend a few minutes messing with it.

It seems more like a boost than a drive pedal to me and I wasn't sure the thing didn't need some tone control.

I haven't built a broadcast yet, but I suggested it mostly because to me it fit the aesthetic of your enclosure--kind of antique look with a fuzzy boost. And plugging straight into a console (which the sound is supposed to replicate) strikes me as hillbilly move.

It does seem very "on-brand"

I like how everyone is embracing the concept.

<respect!>

I’m gonna like it here…
But I, I mean Stu, draws the line at messing with the Duro logo…
You misunderstood me, the logo would be completely untouched, the footswitch below it.

The logo is what makes this project, you can't mess with that kind of coolio mojo.

I might suggest a Powder Blue OD. It's a Timmy modified specifically for SC pickups but sounds good with everything. It's a little less timid than a Timmy. Also a Red Rooster boost - it's a Rangemaster with a bass pot. Great old-school boost. The Broadcast is similar but uses about 5 times the parts - it is quieter though. I'd also look at the Mojito. Maybe a Big Muff modded for a little more midrange too. If you want a Big Muff to sounds less compressed and processed leave the clipping diodes off the second or third stage. That's one of my fave mods.

The Lemonade OD would be worth a look too.

Apart from dirt I would suggest some kind of delay and some reverb. I don't really hear modulation as a hillbilly effect. Although a good tremolo would be cool - unless you're happy with Deluxe Reverb tremolo.

BTW I LOVE the concept and wish I had an enclosure as cool as that! And I would keep it simple if it was mine. Don't cram too much in there.

Thanks for the thoughtful input.

I will definitely build a Big Muff mod to audition. I've needed a good reason to build one and i really like the sound of "less compressed and processed"

I spent a couple hours playing my Simulcast last night and am pretty convinced that it's in the plan. but hell, knowing me I'll build one of everything you suggested.

I've been combing ebay every week for similar toolboxes so I don't have to limit my choices, but they are super rare.

Can you recommend a Big Muff build (board/vero etc?)

Ah! Is see. Interesting idea. I hadn’t thought of that. It might become a very interesting option when I get down to actually choosing the drive pedals.

At one time I was thinking of putting an EP Boost under there that would actually be the last thing in the chain before the verb/delay/Trem stuff.

You can try an overdrive with real tubes inside.

Or something from Vigilente398, at Sushi Box Fx, I think he might be the specialist around here.

I never tried these, but I built something similar for bass and it's crazy good :

Tube distortion really has a singular texture, it sounds very round, warm and alive, i'd say.

I think this sound could be a good match with this amazing enclosure.

There's also Moosapotamus favorite fuzz circuit, would fit perfectly with the enclosure too : http://moosapotamus.net/ideas/acoustic-360-bass-fuzz/

I even did a demo about it, i never do that...
In this audio test the fuzz is used everywhere on bass and guitar.

I love the tube driver idea. It’s on my bucket list to make one someday. Not sure it would fit though. The case is fairly shallow. I’ll definitely give it some thought.

I was gonna say Wah because you said good Pearl Jam but I don’t want to be off the Xmas list! What about an SD1?

Well, you can make a big hole to let the top of the tube emerging from the enclosure, this is often the case with these circuits.

You can see the light inside the bulb, it's even better with tubes sticking out, right ?

Funny you should say that.that was one of my first thoughts. I have an SD-1 all ready to go if I settle on that.

I was thinking more like lay the tube on its back, parallel to the top and let it be visible through a grille or slots in the top. Backlit with amber leds of course!

It kinda has a hell of a lot of knobs though… Stu’s not the sharpest pencil in the cup…

I also have a different cool box that would be a great single circuit enclosure…
