What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Just finished my first PedalPCB build: the Proposition (Rockman Ultimatum clone). I just had to build to see if it sounds beter than my own circuit (I still like mine better, but I'm biased :). Tayda somehow sent me a white enclosure instead of the unpainted one I'd ordered, so here it is in a bridal livery.

BTW, I'll sell it, now that I scratched my itch. What should I charge so I don't undercut other people here who might be making them by the dozens? It's just a one-off, I won't make more.
IMO, in an unfinished enclosure, I think 200 zorkmids is good price.

Out of curiosity, did you use the chargepump or bypass it?

I'm wrapping up a run of 20 of these and omitted the chargepump. That way, users can elect to use +9V, +12V or +18V from a DC brick supply.

I left the charge pump in, didn't even think about it. Just wanted to get it working asap so I can listen to it. Won't the compressor work
differently at different supply voltages? With all those clamping diodes having more or less work to do? Thinking of release time etc. I haven't really analyzed it. I think I would have just put a 7809 on the DC input, so you can power it with whatever. Why would it even even benefit from 18V? It kills all headroom by its nature anyway.

Would you believe I wired it right first try?

...

Would you believe my second try?

Alright.. it took me three.

Last build in this series, and I often keep the last builds for myself. It'll most likely be an always-on pedal, so I'm weighing up possible footswitch functions, jack and LED placement options, knob selection, etc.

I have a few other sets of candidate knobs, but as it often does, it will probably come down to long distance control position visibility vs. bling factor:

I like visibility. You look at a pedal from a distance, possibly in very dim light. It ain't a stereo system.

Yeah, I definitely tend to agree for customer builds. But I don't actually put pedals on the floor, for me they're more like a desk top or amp top appliance. And I'm also no longer gigging, so low light is much less of a concern.

Mr. Sushi Box gave me a couple dozen crusty old diodes he got from a buddy. They have flat metal straps as leads and they are pretty chunky so they're a little challenging to connect.

I tested them out in a Special K and they actually sound pretty nice.

I came up with a way to attach leads that keeps the retro vibe.

Going to watch some Netflix and make up a bunch.

About to undertake my first venture in hand soldering some SMD JFets.
OH! Where did you find those adapter boards? I need some for J201's.

Had the pre-soldered SMD J201s in my cart from Amplified Parts but they sold out while I was double checking if I had all the parts I needed from multiple shops. Seems to happen every time...
