Sell it all, no really!

ASM Hydrasynth. I've got a DSI analog but I needed some glassy FM tones and decided to go full digital. Thing is very versatile.

Congratulations!
I remember watching a demo of one of those awhile ago and thinking, "Yeah, I'm not smart enough to try digital yet.."

NOPE!
All accounted for :poop:

*I know this is a weird flex, but in my defense- I haven't had to add anything to the 'BOX OF SHAME' in a long, long time!
My box of shame is one of those refrigerator boxes. 🤣

Speaking of boxes of shame, I pulled out some very early non working builds last week and gave them to a friend who wanted to flex his trouble shooting skills. I told him he could keep whatever he fixed. 2 out of 3 worked when he tested them.... 😆 To be fair they were populated before I had a testing rig/audio probe so I likely just messed up the off board wires at the time. That inspired me to delve into one of my own and after a replaced gain pot, I have another fuzzy fox to box up.

Oh, the one that he needed to repair was just a 220k where a 220r was needed. He did not get to flex a damn thing.

Ten years ago, my first pedal build was a simple boost circuit called The Confidence Boost. Needless to say it didn’t do its job. 🤣

I'm a couple years behind you but, SAME!
:ROFLMAO:
I'm glad the next 2 builds fired-right-up otherwise I might not be here now.

Not really. The point is if you built it and it’s sitting on a shelf, you didn’t bond with it.

I’m just not the type to like “having tons of unique sounds” at the ready.

I’m not a session musician and like my brother @Guardians of the analog I’m a basic bitch (but in a good way).

I’m a hobbyist and I don’t need a ton of shit laying around my basement that I’m not ever gonna use.

It’s probably why I’ve never been a prolific builder. I don’t have FOMO, I know what I like, and building is not all that therapeutic for me.

I build what I know I’m gonna play and even when I try things, I’m selective.

In short, I know my wheelhouse like the back of my hand. Also, my favorite players picked some stuff and essentially stuck with those things or things like them their whole careers.

That's cool dude!
Knowing what you like is neat!

Anyone's "People should" statements though.. those crack me right up :ROFLMAO:

Yeah man, I'm way too fickle for that. One day I'm underwhelmed with something, the next day it's THE shit. This happened with my moonn bagheera recently. It was just ok to me and then it clicked when I tried it in a new context. Outside of fuzzes and parasit synths there's not a ton of overlap in my stash. If I had all the boss dirts in front of me I'd probably feel differently.

Why would I need it a week later. Is it going to mow the lawn or take the kids to karate? 😂 Seriously though, I guess I'm not in that mentality where I haven't used it in a year and as soon as I sell it I need the sound I didn't use. I'm glad I'm not in NA with you guys 🤡
Murphy’s Law.

I'm selective, I've selected more than 100 different circuits to try, because I've never tried any of them.

The amount of choices we have today is HOOJ! Guitar heroes back in the day didn't have the buffet of tones we can choose from. More modern players might pick up something and use it because they've got it and it works for them, they're not tone-chasers but what if they did a little bit of research and found something better for themselves? — you bet they're going to buy it!

How much different is a Tube Screamer to the Landgraft clone I build my friend? Not much at all in my opinion, but my friend loves the extra gain he swears he's getting from the clone.

I could breadboard stuff, sure, but I've only got a couple of breadboards. By the time I find something like "Z" to build that makes me think "Oh this is similar to "X" and I want to compare them, then how am I supposed to do that if I've already long given away X and Z's minute on the breadboard is up and making way for the "AA" build. Can't easily compare breadboards at a jam/rehearsal/gig.

I start a build, but I can't even finish it
I'm building a lot, but I'm not playing anything
When I have nothing to build, my coffin's sealed
Build something once, why the F^#@ build it again?

Psycho builder
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa-fa-fa-fa, fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa, better
build, build, build, build, build, build, build today, oh-oh-oh
Psycho builder
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa-fa-fa-fa, fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa, better
build, build, build, build, build, build, build today, oh-oh-oh
Ay-ya-ya-ya-ya-ya

To reiterate.
Build something once, why the F^#@ should I build it again?
I'd rather spend that precious time building something new and different, or old and different or if it has to be the same circuit then with new twists/mods/deviations — then I can compare it with the old one I built that's gathered dust at my place or at a friend's place.

Maybe after I've built my 10th YATS and have found "my" tone or have 500+ pedals I'll reconsider my position, but I've got the space and intend on keeping everything 'cause there's only so much room on the pedalboard at a gig but at home I can swap out builds whenever I freq'n feel like it.

To each their groan...
