Here's a place to share your cool decal ideas.

I bought a pedalPCB Blue Shoe Gai Pan off Reverb and had him build it totally blank to put my own pizazz on it.

What do you think? I didn't want to call it blue shoe or PG-14 as I'm clearly not a size 14... Calling it a Dirty Shoebox would have been hilarious, though. But that sounds too similar to Dirty Shirley.

the spray paint is currently drying on the water decal paper.


edit: still trying to figure out why red comes out blotchy on my ink jet printer. It's an Epsom ET-2750. the last 2 worked ok enough to use.

I used a Cricut on mine and did a New Balance 574 since I've worn those for 20 years 🤣.
Unfortunately im.not really digging the sound of this pedal just yet. the "push" nob is quite noisy

I've done my share of hand-painting...
I didn't mind them, but I also realize I'd I ever make stuff for anyone it needs to be more "pro"

Here are my first forays into decal printing. These are still in the “art” stage – while I am using laser jet decals, I still want to clear coat them and the weather here has not been conducive to that (too hot and humid).

Ordinarily I do fairly elaborate Tayda UV printing but decided to try decals since I was quite proficient with them when I did scale models (but that was about 20 years ago). These designs look a bit rudimentary because, as this is my first time doing it , I wanted to keep things simple until I was clear on both the process and what my printer was capable of and wasn’t.

This one is for a stripboard build of the Paisley Drive that will go on a blue enclosure. If the left side looks a little off-center it’s because I had already drilled the case and didn’t do so perfectly, so sometimes you have to lean into your mistakes. One area I will be experimenting with is the color – since the enclosure is blue, none of the colors in the box are going to reproduce properly so I’m going to try to see what happens if I use a white paint pen to paint that area of the enclosure before I lay the decal down in the hopes that it will cause the colors to reproduce more accurately. If anyone has any experience with this (or wants to tell me it’s a phenomenally bad idea) please let me know.

The second is for a build of the Lectriv-FX Old Chap clone of the EHX Electric Mistress. When I built the MadBean version, my daughter did a beautiful elaborate enclosure (see my build report here) but, for this one, I wanted just a straight up clone of the real pedal, so I’m going to put this on a bare aluminum enclosure that has been sanded and polished. Also, since it’s still early days on my learning curve with decals, I wanted a design that had no color to worry about. So everything you see as white will actually be bare aluminum showing through.

Any tips or feedback appreciated.

I spent hours last night cleaning up an image i pulled from google to try and get this for my madbean electric mistress build. yours looks better hahaha

Yours looks great. But PM me your email address and I’ll send you my file. If nothing else, since I haven’t merged it, maybe you can pluck out what you need if you feel it helps you with your image.

I snagged your image off the thread. Thank you. Im going to use your version to try out different colors in the lettering for my final layout. I only ever use microsoft paint to make my waterslide decals. I've been trying to dig into Inkscape but i have not found it to be very inviting. I pulled my layout directly off a photo of a used Electric Mistress, thats why it is still grey in the letters. hahaha
