"Almost excited" by a new Cornish pedal......

I was pretty stoked when I got the email from AionFX about his latest tracing journal's for 3 new Pete Cornish projects.

Especially the GC-1 overdrive.

Then I read through the whole article. Bleah.....this seems pretty beneath Pete Cornish to recycle and re-hash then lie about the circuit being something "completely new".

Having said that, I might still build it. I really like my CC-1. OC-1.

I've had my OC-1 out the last couple days, actually since reading the article reminded me I had built it :)
Still like it. It's a cool medium gain drive with an interesting texture to the crunch.
Crunch is pretty much exactly what I don't want from a compressor, usually. Might work for me for guitar though, if I ever actually play mine again.

Ooops, sorry I meant the "CC-1" the Cornish Crunch, it's an overdrive.
My OC-1 was the first optical compressor I built, and I still like that one a lot too. It's a bit fiddly to get a good sound out of it, which is ironic since it's only 3 knobs. But the Cornish website has instructions how to set it up. Having said that, it does have more coloration than I care for in a compressor. It's got more squish than the General Tso but not as transparent and doesn't have that lovely "hi fi boost" that the Tso has.

OC-1 is really just an OC-2 with the sub-octave circumcised.

You can get the single-octaver PCB from Oshpark (or from Griffin, IIRC a clone of the Oshpark layout)

People who hear them think they sound good, they are used by artists they like, and they like the way they look.

Go for it, at least it has enough Knobs to dial in & out what you do or don't want!
