What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Oooooh! I saw those "four board" layouts before, but didn't really know what I was looking at here. But there's them perf islands! <3
The "four board" layouts are actually just two,
1) one being Perf, showing front & back;
2) the other being a self-etch board, showing front and back.

If you find layouts for single layer self-etching, they're usually pretty easy to lay out as perf, yourself, in DIYLC (Do It Yourself Layout Creator, a donation-ware program, ie it's free [and mega fun to use], but really if you use it you should donate something to the programmer as it's a great program).

The Porchfest still happens (about 3 weeks ago). Jhaneyzz has, in my opinion, the best band of them all. My plan was to finish up in Fox River Grove at the store and then hit the train back to his place and empty his beer fridge (ok, I would have showed up sporting some choice brews for us both) and train it back to the city. Alas, my wife had me block-blocked with dinner plans and I had to miss the whole thing :-(

Two new experiences for me today.

First, my friend and I started looking into processing this monster chunk of Brazilian rosewood we went in on together. Just sent it through the planer a few times to see how much we're actually working with. It's currently about 12" x 2" and well over 9ft long Exciting times, I can still smell it on my clothes.

Looks like I brought some home with me... 20240818_174319.jpg

Later I finished up this Diplomat. Sounded great for a minute until it suddenly became obvious that I reversed a capacitor. Pop goes the 10uf weasel. My first magic smoke and it smells pretty bad. Opened it up to confirm and yeah... this cap is muerte which is, as the kids say, cap AF.

I made this dust collector yesterday and it's working great

I have a commercial version of one of those bucket- cyclone separators. Definitely a game changer for shop vac dust collection. Without one the filters just clog way too fast. DIY one is badass.

I don't do a lot of woodworking anymore but I’m hoping to rig it up for dust collection on this grinder I dragged home a couple weeks ago. I saw a post about someone using one with some water in the bucket to catch the dust and sparks, so hopefully that works out.

Guess I did do this to a workbench over the weekend, but needs another coat:

Had this cyan paint for almost a decade, but still doin fine, but even so, it's a workbench not an interior wall that needs to look nice.

Also no idea why that lorge crescent wrench is up with the box wrenches. This poor shop space has been neglected.

Yep, it’s pretty exhilarating until the smell hits you. I remember my first…and second.
