I saw them a few years ago. It was an interesting show.
They walked on stage, played music, and left. I don't think they said two words to the crowd the entire time. You also couldn't see a thing because it was all fog and bright backlighting. I swear that they didn't even want to be there

Yeah I love Bossanova and Doolittle and which one I like better is hard to say. I like all their stuff but those two are the standouts for me. This gig (in only 12 months time) will be the 5th time I have seen them. To think that for a long time I thought I would never see them! It will also be the third bass player I have seen play with them.
At least when Kim Deal played with them she spoke to the audience a bit... Actually the last time I saw them Charles was almost chatty!
I once saw PJ Harvey at an outdoor gig and she said nothing the entire gig while we were getting drenched in heavy rain. I thought that was poor. At least say thanks for putting up with rain to see me!

I think I saw them in 2009? Doolittle anniversary tour, I want to say… 
They sounded good, but they definitely didn’t seem thrilled to be there
Glad I got to see them with Kim though. Always liked her songs, and preferred her post-Pixies stuff to Frank Black’s.

Kim's new solo album is really good. I was on a big Breeders kick before it came out. I haven't really gotten into the newer Pixies stuff, but I like Charles' solo stuff like Teenager of the Year.

A series of events resulted in me hanging out at a 4am bar in Chicago with Charles (FB), David Lovering, and The Catholics in 2003. Lovering was doing a "science magic" act before FB & the Cs played, two nights in a row. I wound up helping Frank's bass player who was locked out of the Double Door Night 1, and was Lovering's "assistant" for a trick onstage Night 2. My buddy and I helped bounce a couple hecklers too- I'll never understand why some people pay for a ticket just to be dicks to the performer.
Lovering was really, really thankful and grabbed a bunch of Guiness cans from the green room for my friend and me afterwards, and invited us across the street to a dive bar called The Note. He had just been busted for weed in Texas the week before, so I think he was glad to have had a couple good shows under his belt. I idiotically still had the Guiness in my hand when we walked to the other bar, and of course the door guy gave me a look and made me dump it. What can I say? I was pretty preocccupied.
My friend and I were both in bands, and were less starstruck than really appreciative to be hanging with professional, touring musicians that we respected. It was so much fun. Shared some smoke with them, talked about road life, etc etc. At one point I was at a little side table with David Lovering and Frank Black came over to ask him how the show was. I nearly spit out my beer when he said "Great! This is Matt, he helped with the lightbulb trick!" He shook my hand and after a little banter I clammed up so they could chat. FB was pretty much exactly what you'd think - odd, a little sarcastic, but pretty cordial. He did light up when I mentioned Mr. Show...
Afterwards, I had a distinct feeling that a Pixies reunion might happen but I had no idea it would be so soon. I still have a playing card Lovering gave me from one of his tricks, and... a tiny meteorite..? At least that's what he claimed it was.
Amazing story! I saw them on their reunion tour when Kim Deal was till with them. I was so stoked because I thought I'd never get to see them. Every Pixies gig is wonderful. Their music just does something to me. They're incredibly consistent too. Very few dud songs, if any.

Absolutely, they're one-of-a-kind. Seeing that first reunion show in 2004 was exciting but surreal.
Kim is cool as hell - she just played a free in-store at Reckless Records in Chicago, like three blocks from me. She absolutely did not have to do that, and it really says something about her attitude. She seems healthy and happy these days.
I'm going to see Teenager Of The Year played in full by the album's original lineup next month - including Eric Drew Feldman of Beefheart's late-70's Magic Band! Honestly, that album will NEVER get enough credit. Packed full of unbelievable creativity.
